Why should I have my Wedding video taped?

Your wedding video is more than just a history of your wedding day, it is a work of art! Video is the only medium that captures the events of your special day, just as they happened. Then, the professional videographer puts these "captured memories" in a video with special effects and music to create a wedding video you will treasure. Your wedding video will become a family heirloom that you can view time and time again with your family, friends and future children. After all the hours of planning and preparation, your wedding day will seem to pass in an instant. Many memories will be happening while you are focusing your attention on other matters. For example: your spouse-to-be thoughts just before the ceremony begins, the ring bearer who drops the pillow before he/she walks down the aisle ahead of you, that tear in your mothers eye while you say your vows or "best wishes" from family and friends.

So, having your wedding video produced by a professional will preserve all these priceless treasured moments forever. And with Video Adventures personal touch, your wedding video will be that one most treasured item from your Wedding Day.

Why should I hire a professional videographer to video tape my wedding?

Only a professional videographer will have the experience, the training and the proper equipment to produce this once-in-a-lifetime event. A professional has that "eye" that can capture all the emotions, excitement and romance of your special day. At Video Adventures we pay great attention to composition, lighting conditions, shooting style and audio. We are video artists and we create motion picture works of art for our brides and grooms.

Don't all wedding videos look the same?

No! When choosing a videographer to produce your wedding video, be sure to view some of their work before you hire them. You will "see" the difference. Shooting style, editing style, color and audio are all factors to look for when choosing your videographer. Look for picture quality and sound. Then view some of our work. We believe you WILL see a big difference in the way it looks and sounds. Past clients have told us they thought they were watching a movie. That's the way we approach it when producing your wedding video.

What if the church has restrictions on video taping?

When looking for a church to have your wedding, one of the first questions you should ask is "do you have any restriction on professional video taping ". Most churches have rules and we must adhere to them. We pride ourselves on being non-intrusive in shooting your wedding ceremony. Most of the time, you may not even notice we are there. This is one reason why we attend your wedding rehearsal; to talk to the wedding coordinator to find out what, if any, restrictions are placed upon us. We then work with them and you so we all come up with a happy medium. Our goal is to obtain the best possible camera positioning to capture all the action and do the best we can for you.

How do I reserve my Wedding date with you?

To book Video Adventures to produce your wedding video, we will secure a signed contract along with your deposit. Along with that you will get an Information sheet to fill out and return to us. As we approach your wedding date, we will need to collect other items that pertains to your wedding video. But remember to book early because dates do fill up fast. Your videographer should be booked around the same time as you book your photographer.

How far in advance should I book with you?

As early as possible. We book wedding as far out as 24 months and sometimes as short as a few weeks (if you happen to catch an open date). Most often we book wedding dates 9 months in advance. Don't wait until the last minute.

Will the video taping be obtrusive or interfere with my Wedding?

We pride ourselves on being non-intrusive in shooting your wedding ceremony. And we never interfere with the wedding ceremony. Most of the time, you may not even notice we are there.

Why are two cameras important at the Wedding and reception?

Your wedding is a "live" event happening in real time with sometimes a number of things taking place all at once. With our multi-camera coverage of your wedding, we are better able to position the cameras for optimum angles to follow the action. We are able to capture close-ups of your family and friends as they watch the ceremony. Multiple camera angles also make for better viewing in the final edit. Two points of view are better than one.

Normally we use 3 cameras at the wedding and 2 at the reception. And by attending your rehearsal, we are able to plan our camera placements and moves as to not miss any of the activities.

What are your time limits?

On our Wedding and Reception packages, we do not have a set "time limit" on the day of your wedding. We are there as long as it takes us to capture all the shots we need to produce your video according to the package of choice. We also feel it takes one more little worry off your mind on your special day.

Who will actually be shooting and editing my Wedding?

That would be me, Ken Bennett, producer, videographer and CEO at Video Adventures along with my production team. I also personally do about 95% of all the editing.

TOP

Do you attend my rehearsal?

Yes! We feel it is important to attend your rehearsal so we can meet you (if we haven't already), your wedding coordinator, along with your family and your court. This gives us the opportunity to learn what rules we have to adhere to, where the cameras will be placed, the lighting conditions in which we must shoot under, where the audio sources will be and how we will choreograph our coverage of your ceremony.

Can I have photos in my Wedding video?

Yes, you can. Our Photo Montages are a far cry from the normal "slide-show" presentations you may have seen in the past. We place many of your pictures in motion. We add text and layering that flow with the music. We make your photos come alive. This makes for a great opening to your wedding video and an even bigger impact when it is viewed for the first time at your wedding reception on our large 10' X 10' video projection system.

TOP

How long will it be until I receive my edited Wedding video?

This depends upon the season and our shooting and editing schedule. It may take only one day to shoot your wedding video, but it will take many hours to edit. At Video Adventures, we do not do "cookie cutter" editing. Each wedding is edited slightly different because no two weddings are exactly alike. You are different and unique. And so will your wedding video. I do not rush my videos though the editing process. I take my time to give you the best. The wait, whatever it may be, will be well worth it.

TOP

What are your payment plans?

Our standard payment plan is a required non-refundable retainer fee to secure your wedding date with Video Adventures. The balance is due one week prior to your wedding day. This is a normal process for most professional WEVA videographers. But, it is not etched in stone.

TOP

What kind of equipment do you use?

"It's not the equipment that makes a great video, it's the creativity of the video artist." This is true. And since you asked, we use the latest in 3-chip digital camera technology and digital uncompressed non-linear editing.

TOP

Will there be bright lights at the Wedding and reception?

We very seldom will use additional lighting at the ceremony. We get excellent picture quality in most normal lighting conditions. When we do use them, it is because it's going to be really dark without them. An evening wedding outside would be a prime example.

At your reception, again, it will depend upon the lighting conditions. Most cases this will be a low-light situation and we will use on-camera lighting. Remember, we are there to capture the very best we can for you.

TOP

How well do you work with the photographer?.

We have an excellent relationship with our photographer friends. In fact, many of our referrals come from them! We recognize that we are both professionals with a job to do, and therefore give the photographer the space they need to do their work. Professional courtesy is always exercised.

TOP

What can I do to help my videographer do the best job he can?

The best thing you can do to help us create the best wedding video possible is to tell us what you want and expect. Tell us your likes and dislikes about what you have seen in other wedding videos. View our wedding demos and tell us what you like. Most important, please provide us with all the necessary information and materials we request. At your rehearsal, spend a few minutes with us as we explain how we plan to shoot your ceremony, where the cameras will be placed and where everybody "should" be standing during the ceremony.

TOP

Do I get the original tapes or just copies?

When we have finished editing your wedding video, we will aurthor a DVD directly from our digital master. We can then burn as many DVDs as you wish or make VHS tape copies. The original camera tapes are in a digital format that can only be played back on professional digital decks. Besides that, you wouldn't want the original. You'd see many quick pans, tilts, zooms, tracking, reframing and refocusing; shots of the floor, the ceiling, the walls; retakes and unmixed audio tracks.

However, we do retain the digital edited master on file for archiving and for creating new copies for you and for authoring DVD.

TOP

How much should I budget for my Wedding Video?

Let your overall wedding budget and the amount set aside for your photos be a guide. A professional wedding video, such as we produce, requires an investment equal to or greater than photography. We devote many hours in the shooting and editing of your Wedding Video because we want to provide you with our very best.

Do you belong to any associations?

We have been members with WEVA, Weddings and Events Videographers Association International, for many years and also belong to ABC, DVPA and IEPPV.
